Title: PR Executive

Hours: 4 days per week – 30 hours, with the view to expand to full time if desired

Location: Sydney – Glebe/Surry Hills, NSW (work from home initially)

The role:

Reporting to the Trade Director and PR Director, the focus of this role is to develop and promote a number of key tourism accounts to media. Within this, you will deliver and track integrated trade co-op campaigns, develop and execute PR and media campaigns and strategies, consumer marketing campaigns and create exciting itineraries, pitches and newsletter content, events and industry relationships. 

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Creating and maintaining relationships with key trade, media, influencers and industry personnel

  • Delivering marketing campaigns from conception to end across trade, media and consumer facing platforms

  • Developing strategic and creative proposals and ideas

  • Creative proactive and reactive media relations

  • Newsletter / pitch writing and distribution

  • Monitoring the media and pouncing on new opportunities

  • Creating and managing media and trade events

  • Arranging media, product manager and travel agent visits to destinations

  • Creating trade and media partnerships

  • Delivering training sessions to trade personnel (backup only)

  • Managing a media database and product inventories

  • Maintaining strong, ongoing relationships with clients with daily communication and international conference calls

  • Budget management

  • Compiling reports

You must have:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a travel, marketing or PR role

  • Solid understanding of Australia’s evolving media landscape, including new media and influencers, as well as Australia’s key news and magazine brands

  • A sound understanding of the tourism sector

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Writing skills should include native copy, strategy, presentations, media release structure and effectiveness and understanding of best practice in pitching to media

  • A can-do attitude, results oriented and a thirst for making things happen

  • Should have experience or basic awareness in digital marketing

  • Familiarity or experience with Mailchimp, Asana, Sharepoint, Slack and google docs well-regarded

  • Network of media contacts across trade and consumer media titles well-regarded

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to multi-task all day, every day

  • Self-motivation, discipline and accountability

  • A passion for travel

  • A team player attitude

  • Ability to work from home (transferring to Sydney based office in the future)

  • Eligibility to work in Australia without the need for sponsorship

The role will be based from home to begin with and will have regular contact with the Sydney and Queensland based teams and with clients. Office hours are 9am – 5.30pm with some flexibility required to work at events and be based in a Sydney office 2 days minimum fortnightly in the future.
